Enrolling an Employee using Facial Recognition

Before enrolling an employee using facial recognition make sure your kiosk device is positioned properly. See Positioning the Facial Recognition Kiosk Device.

If using Facial Recognition, you will need to enroll each employee with the mobile app. The enrollment process involves capturing photos of the employee's face and verifying that the employees can punch in and out as intended.

For Optimal Results

The employee being enrolled should:

  • Use a neutral expression (not smiling, frowning or laughing).
  • Avoid wearing sunglasses.
  • Avoid hair or hat covering the eyes.

If the employee:

  • Normally wears corrective glasses, repeat the enrollment process with and without glasses.
  • Switches between having a beard and being clean shaven, enroll the employee with a beard and also without the beard.
  •

Once the mobile app is launched, an administrator or supervisor would typically perform the following steps to enrol employees:

  • On the Mobile App Dashboard, tap Enrollment or tap the three bar menu icon, at the top left of the screen, then Enrollment.
  • The administrator or supervisor types in their own User Name and Password and taps the Sign in button.
  • An employee list should appear. Choose the employee that you wish to enroll from the list by tapping on their name, or use the Search Employee option and type in the employee's name.
  • Have the employee being enrolled, position themselves standing in front of the device with their arms bent at the elbow so they can hold onto the bottom left and right corners of the tablet but without moving or adjusting the tablet. Taller employees will naturally stand a little farther away from the device than shorter employees. The employee then looks directly at the device screen by bending only from the neck or by tilting their head downward. See the images below.

NOTE:  While enrolling, employees should tilt or move only their head to view the device screen and try to avoid bending at the waist or moving just their eyes.

  • Tap Enroll Face.

  • Tap Start Enrollment.

  • The employee then follows the instructions at the top of the screen, which is called the self-directed enrollment process, for positioning distance, enrollment and verification. Once the required number of photos are taken, Tap Verify Enrollment. The last step of this process is to tap Done.

  • The thumbnails of the saved photos of the employee will display on the screen under the Enrolled Faces bar.
  • View each photo to assess the quality. If the photo is blurry or if the employee's eyes are closed, delete the photo by performing the following steps:
    • Tap on the photo.
    • Confirm by tapping Yes to delete, or No to cancel.
    • If you want to delete all the photos at once, tap the Delete All icon.

To continue enrolling more employees:

  • Tap the back arrow icon at the top left of screen and the Enrollment screen with the list of employees will reappear. Select the next employee you wish to enroll and repeat the enrollment process.

If you have completed enrolling employees:

  • Exit the Enrollment by tapping the back arrow icon. This automatically signs you out and the employees can immediately begin to Punch In/Out.
