Positioning the Facial Recognition Kiosk Device
The positioning of the kiosk device (tablet/phone) and the environment it is located within are very important for successful results. It is recommended that an adjustable kiosk stand (see example) is used to mount the device, rather than a flat wall mount, due to the additional flexibility in positioning.
For optimal results, the device should be positioned as follows:
- Out of direct sunlight. There should not be a window in the direct view of the device's camera.
- There should not be a light in the direct view of the device's camera, or within 3 meters/10 feet.
- Device height should be set to suit the shortest employee. Taller employees can stand a little farther away from the device to avoid bending at the waist.
- Device's camera view angle should be directed primarily at the ceiling rather than a wall.
For example, a 35 degree angle from horizontal. See image.
-
Not facing doorways, high traffic areas or where employees may congregate to reduce unintentional punches.
The examples below show images taken in a properly lit environment in comparison to improperly lit environments.
