The mobile app requests the GPS data from the device itself, therefore, the data is only as accurate as what the device provides TimeTrex.
The Mobile App offline mode enables punches to be recorded on the local device when Internet service is not available or the TimeTrex server is undergoing maintenance. When the connection is re-established, the app will check for pending punches and automatically upload them to the TimeTrex server.
If an employee punches in/out when there is no internet service the only difference they will see is that some of the fields may contain a default value of "Auto". An employee can choose to change these settings to force it to another value or leave them as "Auto". If the value is left as "Auto" those fields will be replaced with the appropriate values once the punches are uploaded. In most cases, employees can continue with their usual punch process when the device is offline.
Always ensure your phone's software and the TimeTrex mobile app has the latest update installed.
Android tries to manage it's battery life by forcing apps to go to sleep. So when your phone goes into deep sleep mode, notifications are delayed. Each type of Android phone may require different steps to prevent an app from 'sleeping' in the background and delaying your notifications.
Google (Pixel) (Android 8 or above)
Locate the TimeTrex mobile app on your phone.
Tap the app and hold it to invoke the long-press menu, then select the TimeTrex mobile App info shortcut ((i) symbol).
Tap Battery in the menu.
Select Unrestricted, which will allow the app to run in the background without restrictions.
Samsung (One UI) (Android 12 or above)
Follow the same instructions as in the Google section above.
AND
Open the Settings app and tap Battery & device care, then Battery.
Tap Background usage limits.
Tap Never sleeping apps.
Tap +, select TimeTrex mobile app and then tap Add to add it to the list.
Xiaomi (MIUI)
Follow the steps described in the Google section above, noting that Battery = Battery saver and Unrestricted = No restrictions.
AND
Open the TimeTrex mobile app and enter the multitasking overview / app switcher.
Tap and hold the preview of the TimeTrex app and then choose the first option in the menu, the Lock icon.

Tablet TimeClocks
For Apple devices, unfortunately they do not offer a setting on each device to disable automatic operating system updates, however, in your WIFI router, firewall or proxy server, you could block access to "mesu.apple.com" at the network or DNS level as a work around. However, when you do wish to perform an update you would need to remove that block prior to doing so.
For Android devices, please consult the device manufacturer's documentation.
It is possible to set up a "touch-less" configuration for TimeTrex Kiosk devices eliminating the need for employees to touch the device to punch in/out, thereby making the process more hygienic for sensitive environments. This works with devices in QRCode or Facial Recognition mode. Keep in mind, when using this setup the employees will not have the opportunity to change any settings,( i.e. select Lunch or Break, or change the punch to In or Out), instead these settings will be automatically determined based on the policies already specified.
- When signed into the TimeTrex web interface as an Administrator, click on Company, then the Stations in the main menu.
- Find your kiosk device station in the list (the Type field will be "Kiosk: Mobile App (iOS/Android)" and the Status will be "Enabled"), select it, then click Edit in the button bar.
- Click on the Mobile App tab. In the Configuration Modes dropdown box, make sure Punch Mode: QRCode or Punch Mode: Facial Recognition is already selected, then add Disable: Punch Confirmation to the Selected Items list.
- Click Save in the button bar.
The modified devices will automatically synchronize themselves and the new settings will take effect within 15 minutes. At that point, when the employees punch in/out they will immediately see a "Punch Successful" screen and will no longer be able to change any punch settings.
If when using facial recognition, an employee is incorrectly matched as another employee (false positive), it is recommended that you enroll both employees again to ensure their enrollment photos are good quality and closely match their current facial appearance. This usually resolves the majority of such cases. Within reason, the more enrollment photos you have of each employee, the more accurate the facial recognition is, especially if they sometimes wear hats, glasses, or change their facial hair often.
Only after you have enrolled the employee again and the problem persists, it would then be recommended that you go to Company -> Stations, edit each of your Kiosk stations, and under the "Mobile App" tab, change "Face Recognition Threshold" to 8. The higher the number the less chance of a false positive occurring, however the more difficult it is for an employee to get a match. Usually a setting of 8 or 9 should eliminate the vast majority of false positive cases, however when you start getting into 9 and 10 you can introduce false negative cases (employees not getting any match at all). Typically you would increase this value by 1 each time, and try it for a few days or a week, and only increase it again if another false positive occurs.
